Meet the owner

Rob Kenny

Originally from Ireland, Rob Kenny brought an old-country work ethic and a straight-talking, do-it-right attitude to the Kenai Peninsula — and, together with his wife Lisa, built Alaska Shear & Plow into the family-owned operation it is today.

Rob believes in being transparent in every interaction — honest estimates, clear communication, and no surprises. Whether he's clearing a driveway, grading a site, or delivering a load of topsoil, he runs every job the same way: show up when he says he will, do honest work at a fair price, and treat every customer's property like his own. It's why neighbors across Kenai and Soldotna call him back season after season.

How soon can new customers get on the schedule? add

It depends on the season and how full we are, but we move fast. Give us a call as soon as you know you need service and we'll do our best to get you on the schedule right away. Seasonal plan customers are served first during storms, so if you want guaranteed coverage all winter, that's the plan to ask about.

What types of snow plowing services do you offer? add

Both residential and commercial. For homeowners we offer On Request plowing booked one visit at a time and seasonal plans sized to your driveway. For businesses we handle parking lots, access roads, and larger properties — and our snow wing equipped compact wheel loader and compact track loader make quick work of big lots and heavy accumulation. Not sure which fits? Call us and we'll help you pick.

Do you offer emergency snow plowing services? add

Yes. When you're snowed in, stuck on a berm, or can't wait for the regular route, book our Hourly Service online and we'll get to you as fast as we can. During active storms, priority goes to Seasonal accounts, so demand can be high.

Standard snow plowing on demand — you ask, we come. Nothing further is scheduled and nothing further is charged. When you want us again, book again.

directions_carSizing guide. Pick the number of cars that would physically fit in the area you want plowed clean, plus the area where the snow gets pushed and stacked. If you're between sizes, choose the larger one.

straightenDeep snow. Deeper snow takes more work, and very deep snow is handled as hourly work. We'll tell you before we start.

straightenDepth. Every extra 3 inches of snow adds 40% of the base price. For very deep snow the booking becomes an hourly job automatically — no phone call needed.

verifiedDriveway size and snow depth are verified on arrival. Equipment is assigned by Alaska Shear & Plow based on conditions.

We measure your driveway and draw up a plan for your snow: what gets plowed, which way it's pushed, and where it's stacked.

We also work out how much room you'll need to stack the snow to get through the whole winter, so you don't run out of space in February.

Accounts are serviced from October 15th through April 15th. A seasonal plan is a full-season commitment at one plan price, however you choose to split the payments.

An additional 40% of the base price is charged for each additional 3″ once accumulation reaches 6″. When the snow is deeper than the chart for your size, the plowing is booked as hourly work automatically.

Compact track loader — delivery

The compact track loader comes on a trailer, so a delivery fee by area is added to CTL bookings. The plow truck and compact wheel loader drive to the job — no mobilization fee.

Mobilization

The excavator and the compact track loader travel on a trailer, so a flat delivery fee by area is added per machine. The compact wheel loader drives itself to the job — no mobilization fee.

Compact Track Loader

COMPACT TRACK LOADER SERVICE

A compact track loader — a CTL — runs on tracks and turns in its own length, so it works where a wheeled machine cannot. Ours carries smart grader and dozer blades that grade straight off a surveyed 3-D model, plus a compaction roller, power rake, 4-in-1 bucket and root-rake grapple for site prep, spreading and finish work across the greater Kenai / Soldotna area. We survey the site, model the finished grades, and cut to the model with 3-D Grade Control — no need for stakes or paint.

Topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch and more — supplied and delivered throughout the greater Kenai / Soldotna area. Here's how the right material looks on the ground. Tell us what you're planning and we'll put together an estimate.

Prices are per cubic yard, material only. Delivery is a flat fee per load by area, the same for one yard or a full load. Each material has a per-load maximum; bigger orders are additional loads, each with its own delivery fee.

A J-Rod is a hydraulic wing plow: the two wings swing a full 180 degrees, so the same plow carries snow like a box pusher, windrows it like an angle blade, and folds narrow to drive down the road. Lots that took all night get done before the first customer pulls in.
